Heather McCoy and Teri Fuhrer are both long-time Healdsburg residents who are passionate about animals! We are lifelong animal lovers and caregivers. Both of us have had cats and dogs all of our lives and Heather also has extensive experience with birds and horses! Heather’s parents were race horse trainers and she grew up in a ranch environment.

We have both been trained in Pet First Aid and have experience with medication administration and some basic procedures. We also have great compassion and knowledge regarding pets in their senior/sunset years!Walkies arose from finding out, first hand, that there was a definite need for qualified and reliable pet sitters in Northern Sonoma County. Having wonderful pets of our own and not being able to go on vacation because of the lack of quality care, made us realize that there was a distinct need for “kennel alternatives.” We don’t believe that most kennels are good options.

“Our pets are like our kids and neither of us take that lightly!” We will ONLY leave our pets with loving, trustworthy and experienced caregivers and know that other pet owners feel the same! We have heard too many horror stories about pets left in the care of neighbors/friends who were not qualified or as reliable as one thought. Unfortunately, we also know of many pets who have come home from kennel stays horribly ill, stressed or depressed because of the conditions and/or stress of being locked in a cage 23+ hours a day. We live near a boarding kennel and are forced to listen to the sad cries of dogs all day and night…its heart breaking. These are all the reasons we both left our careers and started Walkies.
